Stop-Itch Suspension (Stop-itch suspension) is an oral suspension for cats used in the treatment of inflammatory and allergic skin diseases.
COMPOSITION
Each 1 mL contains the following active ingredients: triamcinolone – 1 mg, pyridoxine hydrochloride – 2 mg, riboflavin – 4 mg, nicotinamide – 10 mg, methionine – 20 mg, succinic acid – 2 mg, as well as excipients: carboxymethylcellulose – 1.5 mg, tween-80 – 6 mg, sodium benzoate – 1.5 mg, potassium sorbate – 1.5 mg, cyclamate, aspartame, saccharin – 1 mg each, xanthan gum – 2 mg, glycerin – 50 mg, and distilled water – up to 1 mL.
PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
Stop-Itch Suspension belongs to the group of combined anti-inflammatory drugs. Triamcinolone, one of its active ingredients, is a synthetic glucocorticoid that exhibits pronounced anti-inflammatory and desensitizing effects. Its mechanism of action involves blocking the release of inflammatory mediators by eosinophils, including prostaglandins, which potentiate the inflammatory process, stimulating the biosynthesis of lipocortins with anti-edema activity, reducing the number of mast cells producing hyaluronic acid, and decreasing capillary permeability. Vitamins B (niacinamide, pyridoxine, riboflavin), succinic acid, and methionine improve metabolism, accelerate tissue regeneration, and promote the restoration of the functional state of the skin.
Stop-Itch Suspension is classified as slightly hazardous substance (hazard class 4 according to GOST 12.1.007-76) based on its impact on the organism.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
Stop-Itch Suspension is administered orally to dogs and cats for the treatment of inflammatory and allergic skin diseases (such as atopic dermatitis, eczema, diffuse neurodermatitis, itching, alopecia, reactions to insect bites).
During the first 4 days of treatment, the suspension is given at the therapeutic dose, followed by a 1/2 therapeutic dose for the next 8 days. The course of treatment may be extended at the discretion of the attending veterinarian.
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
In case of overdose, the animal may experience depression and vomiting. In rare cases, rapid transient hypersalivation may occur upon initial administration.
It is important to avoid missing a dose of the suspension as it may reduce its effectiveness. If a dose is missed, resume administration at the same dose and schedule.
Stop-Itch Suspension is not recommended for concurrent use with other medicinal products containing corticosteroids in dogs and cats.
Stop-Itch Suspension is not intended for use in productive animals.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Stop-Itch Suspension is contraindicated in animals with a known hypersensitivity to any of its components (including in the medical history), viral diseases, and diabetes. It is not recommended for use in pregnant and lactating bitches and cats.
SIDE EFFECTS
When used according to the instructions, side effects and complications in animals are usually not observed. In individual cases of increased individual sensitivity, depression, salivation, and gastrointestinal disturbances may occur. In such cases, discontinue use of the product and, if necessary, administer symptomatic treatment.
