ControSex Neo for Regulating Sexual Heat in Cats and Female Dogs
Composition and Form: The medication contains 0.12 mg of acetobumethone and 0.001 mg of ethinylestradiol as active ingredients. The excipients include lactose, potato starch, calcium stearate, and Tropaeolin O dye. It is packaged in strips of 10 tablets.
Pharmacological Properties: The progestogen acetobumethone blocks mediobasal zones in the hypothalamus that release gonadoliberins (FSH and LH releasing hormones), which trigger the pituitary secretion of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH), responsible for follicle development and ovulation in the ovaries. Ethinylestradiol enhances the contraceptive effect by altering the biological properties of vaginal mucus and the viscosity of the cervical mucus, inhibiting sperm mobility, and altering the endometrium to prevent implantation of a fertilized egg. Both acetobumethone and ethinylestradiol are quickly absorbed in the intestines, metabolized in the liver, and fully excreted as metabolites in the urine within 48 hours.
Indications: ControSex Neo tablets are designed to regulate sexual heat in cats and female dogs.
Dosage and Administration: The medication is administered orally with food or directly to the root of the tongue. Dosage depends on the animal’s body weight and the intended use (see table on the instruction’s reverse side). Full reproductive function is restored 2-3 months after discontinuation of the medication. For alleviating sexual excitement in cats and female dogs, the contraceptive should be administered once daily for 3-5 days for cats and 5-7 days for female dogs at the first signs of sexual excitement.
Daily Dose:
- Cats:
- Up to 5 kg: 1 tablet
- 5.1 to 10 kg: 1-2 tablets
- Female Dogs:
- Up to 5 kg: 1 tablet
- 5.1 to 10 kg: 1-2 tablets
- 10.1 to 30 kg: 2-4 tablets
- Over 30 kg: At least 4 tablets per dose for five days + 1 tablet for every additional 10 kg of weight
For preventing unwanted pregnancy after accidental mating:
- Cats:
- 2 tablets once daily for 2 days regardless of body weight
- Female Dogs:
- Once daily for 2 days:
- Up to 5 kg: 1 tablet
- 5.1 to 10 kg: 1-2 tablets
- 10.1 to 30 kg: 2-4 tablets
- Over 30 kg: At least 4 tablets per dose for five days + 1 tablet for every additional 10 kg of weight
- Once daily for 2 days:
Administer the medication within 24 hours after accidental mating. Delayed administration significantly reduces effectiveness.
Side Effects: Not recommended for young animals during their first heat due to difficulty determining the start of the cycle. Contraindicated for animals that have not reached sexual maturity, pregnant and lactating females, and those with mammary gland or reproductive organ tumors, diabetes, urolithiasis, or individual intolerance to the medication’s components. Not recommended to use medications intended for males on females and vice versa due to different hormonal backgrounds.
Contraindications: ControSex Neo tablets are contraindicated for pregnant and lactating females, animals that have not reached sexual maturity, and those with mammary gland or reproductive organ tumors, diabetes, urolithiasis, or individual intolerance to the components. Not recommended for use in young animals during their first heat.
Special Instructions: Compatible with all medications.
Storage Conditions: Store in the manufacturer’s sealed packaging in a dry, light-protected place, away from food and feed, at temperatures between 0°C and 25°C. Shelf life: 2 years from the date of manufacture.
